Trevors Blog: Amigawest 2020 celebrating Amiga 35

Published 15.10.2020 - 21:21 by AndreasM

With the AmiWest 2020 show less than a couple of weeks away it's time to give a big shoutout to the traditional AMIWEST Broadcast which is even more important this year. Every year Bill Borsari live streams presentations and interviews to an expectant worldwide Amiga audience.

AmiWest 2020 - Amiga35

This year his role takes on an even greater significance as Covid-19 travel restrictions mean that international visitors will not be able to attend and out of state USA numbers will most likely be reduced. Unfortunately, due to New Zealand travel and quarantine restrictions I will not be able to travel to Sacramento so I will miss the show for the first time since I attended AmiWest's Amiga 25 celebrations in 2010 to present the first public display of the AmigaOne X1000 in North America running a beta version of AmigaOS 4.1. Happy memories indeed. However, in case you thought you had escaped me this year I have supplied SAAC with a pre-recorded video presentation ;-). I am pleased to confirm that A-EON Technology is once again the show's Gold sponsor. [...]

New virus found, we dont know much right now.

A new virus has been found. We suspect that the file has been downloaded from AmiNet, but this has not been confirmed yet. In fact we don't know if this 'sucker' is a file-virus , a link-virus or it could even be a trojan.

Teserae: An old new Tetris clone

Published 11.10.2020 - 16:36 by osz

How Tetris works should now be part of general education. Therefore I save myself any attempt to explain.

The title Teserae was originally written for the Atari ST by The Albanian Sausage Corporation. Now there is a port of this game to the Amiga, which was released on itch.io and can be downloaded for free. According to the description, the port was created in the 1990s so that the author could get to know some of the hardware's features better. The game is already running on an Amiga 500.

Four games by Mutation Software are available (again)

Published 11.10.2020 - 16:26 by osz

Although the following titles are not new games, apart from one of those titles, those who value clean licensing should still be happy.

Mutation Software from Great Britain has already re-released three titles from the 90s, a fourth title is still to come. The latter is actually not a re-release, but a new title. The work is already progressing. The previous re-releases appeared both digitally and physically, but the physical versions are already sold out. The digital versions can be purchased from the Mutation Software page via itch.io. These are the following titles:

- Tin Toy Adventure, a platformer from 1996 for AGA Amigas with 2 MB RAM or more [...]

ATnoX: Use ATX power supplies in Big-Box Amigas

Published 11.10.2020 - 15:45 by osz

Lately, there have been an increasing number of hardware projects related to the topic of power supply, this time too.

ATnoX is a small adapter board that should enable ATX power supplies to be used in computers that actually rely on AT, XT or Amiga power supplies. In the case of the Amiga, a generator for the so-called TICK signal was taken into account. This is a 50/60 Hz rectangular signal, which is required by some so-called big box Amigas to switch on.

The source files as well as the Gerber files are located in the GitHub repository. [...]
